Triathlon is a rather young sport. More and more people want to feel the excitement of the three combined sports swimming, cycling and running, making their way to the starting line. One of the most famous triathlon competitions is the annual Ironman contest in Hawaii.
At the Gay Games VIII Cologne 2010 we're expecting about 500 athletes to the triathlon competitions.

Athletes will complete the three disciplines non-stop. From the water it's on to the bike – and then without stopping they're off running. In the process, the most exciting distances are in the line-up!
In our competition modelled on the Olympic Games it's 1.5 km of swimming, 40 km bicycling and 10 km of running. These distances are also available to teams of 3, where one person each will take on one distance.

In individual judging we are also offering the "sprinting distance": the distances for all three disciplines will be cut in half.
Bicycles for rent
Participants in the cycle races (cycling and triathlon) can rent a bike for free for their competitions. More information here.
