Will hosted housing be available for choir members?
The Gay Games VIII Cologne 2010 will be offering hosted housing. If you register as looking for accommodation, please state on the form that you would like to stay with a choir member in Cologne. We will then try to arrange this for you, but are unable to guarantee accommodation.
Is there a hotel for Culture Festival participants?
Yes. The bands' favourite is the Hotel Barcelo Cologne City Center, centrally located on Rudolfplatz. You can make a direct booking at this (and other hotels) via our website (by clicking on Cologne à Accommodations).
On what day can we perform at the Choir Concert?
We are inviting a total of 20 choirs to perform on one of the four evenings. As we want to offer as varied a programme as possible each evening, it will not be possible to allocate choirs to a particular evening until after the closing date for registrations. We will make every effort to take account of any preferences you may have. To this end, we will send you a questionnaire to complete once you have registered.
Can I register alone without a choir?
Yes. Even if you are not a member of a choir, you are welcome to take part at the Gay Games VIII Cologne 2010 Choir Festival as a member of the Festival Choir and sing in the opening and closing ceremonies and the gala concert. You will also have the opportunity to join the other singers in street-singing (at least in the finale at the Gay Games Village). Please note the rehearsal times for the Festival Choir.
By the way: if small ensembles from larger choirs that are not travelling to the festival wish to take part in one of the choir concerts, this is possible by prior arrangement.
When will rehearsals for the Festival Choir be held?
The Festival Choir will begin rehearsing in Cologne on Thursday 29 July 2010 before the Gay Games start. Anyone wishing to be part of the Festival Choir at the opening ceremony must attend this rehearsal. Other rehearsals for the gala concert and the closing ceremony will be held during the course of the week. You can find more information on the pages relating to the Festival Choir.
