On Thursday 5 August, the major Gala Concert will be held in the auditorium (799 seats) of the Cologne University of Music and Dance, one of the largest and most renowned music conservatories in Europe.
One part of the evening will feature "Team Band", a group comprising all the instrumentalists participating at the Gay Games VIII Cologne 2010 who will perform a varied programme featuring a number of different styles. The programme has been compiled and is being coordinated by the Lesbian and Gay Band Association.
The other part of the evening there will be a performance by "Stimmfusion", comprising the members of Cologne's nine gay and lesbian choirs. The Festival Choir will then take to the stage and hundreds of voices will sing out and touch the audience's hearts. Numbers will be sung by mixed, female and male voices.
For the grand finale, everyone will join together as the evening reaches its rousing climax with a performance by the Team Choir and Team Band to the tune of "Highland Cathedral" – better known to the people of Cologne as their well-loved city anthem "Du bes die Stadt".
