Music Under the Rainbow
© RSCThe cornerstone for a gay symphony orchestra in Cologne was laid in 2007, when the Rainbow Symphony Orchestra of Paris presented a concert together with Stimmfusion, the amalgamation of gay and lesbian choruses in Cologne. Since then, musicians from all over Europe have converged twice yearly in Cologne for a weekend of rehearsal culminating in a concert of the Rainbow Symphony Cologne.
Under the musical direction of Thomas Krause and the business direction of the founder Werner Schramm, the Rainbow Symphony Cologne has expanded its repertoire to include classical and romantic symphonic works as well as chamber music and popular classics.
© RSCFrom the outset, the RSC has been looking forward to playing a role in this year’s Gay Games. The opening ceremony in the RheinEnergie Stadium will be the first to be accompanied by a live symphonic orchestra. Among the pieces the orchestra will be performing is the “Rainbow Prelude” composed by Andreas N. Tarkmann and dedicated to the Rainbow Symphony Cologne.
In addition, the Chamber Orchestra of the Gay Games Cologne will perform at the gala concert in the Cologne University of Music and Dance on August 5.
