On Friday, August 6, 2010, the traditional and always fantastic Pink Flamingo™ will occur at the Stadionbad at the Sportpark Muengersdorf, the location of the Cologne Gay Games swimming competition. Pink Flamingo™ is an IGLA and Gay Games tradition, combining outrageous costumes, music, dance and synchronized swimming with humor and satire, to make for an exciting, fun and somewhat revealing evening.
All aquatics participants receive free entry to the event. A limited number of tickets are available for the general public. Tickets to Pink Flamingo™ at the last three Gay Games have sold out, so get your ticket early.
For the teams participating in Pink Flamingo™, the rules are set out here:
- Pink Flamingo™ will be held on Friday, August 6, 2010, at 6 pm, at the Stadionbad at Sportpark Muengersdorf, Stadionweg, 50933 Cologne-Muengersdorf. Entrance is from Junkersdorfer Straße.
- The theme for Pink Flamingo™ is "Carnival in Kölle" (Mardi Gras in Cologne).
- Each city or country team may enter a team for the Pink Flamingo™ show.
- Each performance may be up to 5 minutes long. Each performance should:
a. Relate to the theme of "Carnival in Kölle
b. Include the pool and swimming as a major part of the performance.
c. No nudity is permitted. Costumes cannot contain glitter and any costumes of performers that enter the pool cannot have any small accessories that can detach and cause problems for the pool circulation system (e.g. feathers, pasted sequins.)
d. Music in the form of mp3 or cd must be provided to Games Cologne by July 15, 2010. - The judges will award first, second and third place for the performance. The prizes will be awarded to each team, not medals to each individual. An additional award will be given for the team with the best costumes.
